Discovery of one or more anti-parasitic and/or antimicrobial active agents from plant essential oils. (Candida albicans)

Description

Candidiasis diseases occur worldwide, and are due to yeasts of the genus Candida. (Infection due to the Candida group, usually Candida albicans).

Local or systemic candidiasis is an ever-spreading parasitic infection, whose multi-factorial causes are, in particular, immuno-depression and nutritional imbalance due to modern lifestyles.
It would appear desirable to create effective treatments which are free of side effects.

Objective

Consists principally of determining which essential oils have the greatest effect on candidiasis and investigating the most effective forms of application.

On the basis of work that we have carried out, the actual combinations with the greatest effect on Candida albicans can be determined based on measurements of MBC for the essential oils. Exhaustive screening will allow us to select the essential oils which are most active and to choose products to which there is best tolerance and which have minimum active doses.
